Will somebody please ask President Bush to refrain from using the word "hostage" to refer to the abduction and holding of British sailors and marines by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard. The Administration had been showing wisdom and maturity by not commenting publicly on this matter, until yesterday. Using the "H" word now greatly escalates the current incident to a completely unnecessary and hyperbolic level. This is not the American hostage crisis of 1979-1980 in Iran and allusions to that painful period can only make matters worse.
