Talk Isn't Always Cheap.

New York City - I wrote on Sunday of Maestro Daniel Barenboim's use of music to break down barriers and open communication. Now that's somebody who understands the communication imperative of leadership. Apparently, according to The New York Times, Maine Governor Paul LePage has another view. He's been refusing to speak with Democrats since last November's election. When will these characters understand that they are elected to communicate, negotiate and appreciate the value of respectful, two-way engagement - even with people they don't like. There may be other jobs where listening to and speaking with colleagues can be avoided, but Governor is not one of them. Twitter @jessicamcwade
