Participated in a conference call last night that Christiane Amanpour facilitated with U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon. Ban came out swinging on Syria, calling it a "self destructing catastrophe" rife with "war crimes" and "sexual violence." Syria is being "torn apart limb by limb," he added, stressing with frustration that the international community - and especially his own Security Council - will receive the "harsh judgment of history" for not taking action. Of course, taking serious action is highly unlikely and, besides, it's all in the details anyway. Nothing will happen without Russian and Chinese leadership on the Security Council, so don't hold your breath.
