Marvelous Simon Schama piece in the Financial Times over the weekend on the restoration of Amsterdam's Rijksmuseum. http://www.ft.com/intl/cms/s/2/6050ffc2-96cb-11e2-a77c-00144feabdc0.html#slide0
On the testy relationship between art and history, and as only Schama could write it, "History without the eloquence of images is blind; art without the testimony of texts is deaf." I spent hours amidst the Rembrandt's there and can highly recommend it as an addition to your bucket list. Too bad we can't do it with Schama. Twitter @jessicamcwade
