One marvels at Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant. How does such a young guy come to possess a first-rate ability and willingness to lead and a commitment to the world beyond him? Well, it starts with the mother and grandmother who raised him. Whether Durant's leadership bearing is the product of nature or nurture, he got them both from Wanda Pratt (mom) and Barbara Davis (grandmother). Here's a guy who plays a selfless game of basketball, though a bit too selfless for me. And here’s a gentleman who immediately donated $1 million to the Oklahoma Red Cross a day after the tornado. His gift and gifts shine in stark contrast to the two US Senators from Oklahoma who remain as self-serving as always.
