Spinning Sensitivity

The Columbus Dispatch reported yesterday that Ohio State's Board of Trustees had ordered "sensitivity training" for then-President Gordon Gee. This came after the embattled Gee continued to say inappropriate things on any number of subjects. Yes, Gee was clearly in need of what might be better called "common sense" training. What was the Board thinking, however, when three of the four finalist firms for the assignment were public relations and media relations organizations? Only one of the finalists (and the top candidate) appeared to be an actual leadership coach and sensitivity trainer. Might it indicate greater interest on their part in spin training and PR damage control than in actual sensitivity training? The training never happened anyway, since Gee retired in July.
