Now That's a Leader: Nour Elkhoudary

We're in a moment of understandable backlash against the big social-media platforms. Let's not forget, however, that the Internet is a force for good when it's in the right hands. Just ask Nour Elkhoudary, a mom and entrepreneur in Gaza, Palestine.

Elkhoudary launched an app providing mothers with advice on parenting, referrals to services, connections to mothers around the world with comparable needs and remedies, and counseling to support their mental health and that of their children. Mothers need access to this kind of service everywhere, but especially in Palestine these days.

With the help of Gaza Sky Geeks, a coding academy and technology incubator, Elkhoudary founded Momy Helper (www.momyhelper.com) in 2017. Thousands of young moms in Gaza and across the Middle East now rely on the app to provide valuable insights, useful connections and needed comfort. The market's reception now has Elkhoudary planning to go global with the service.

She shared her personal mission statement with the "Stay Curious Darling" blog last April. "Do not waste life in vain. You should always do something new and, when you do something, do it to the fullest." Inspiration, for sure, which for effective leaders is always backed by no small amount of perspiration, too.
