Bogota -
This city's downtown core is notorious for its building and real estate development restrictions. Architects such as Plan B Architects based here are apparently told in considerable detail what they cannot do. Designing and building new structures in Bogota means facing a bewildering array of restrictions on height, width, volume, style and setbacks.
Great leaders and innovators know how to respond to these kind of limitations. If they can't surmount them, they embrace them. They understand the reality of their operating context and work with it to defy constraints and create something spectacular.

The Click Clack Hotel where we are staying is a vivid case in point. Completed in 2014, it's a striking modernist offering; a glass Erector Set of sorts with large, floor-to-ceiling windows, perforated metal screens and cleverly protruding rooms.
The Click Clack complies with all of Bogota's severe building restrictions. And yet, because Plan B Architects viewed this reality as an opportunity and not a straight-jacket, they created a radical departure and a signature property.
