Weaving it Together

Longtime Baltimore Orioles' manager Earl Weaver passed away yesterday. Say what you will about him - he could be a real pain in the neck - but the man knew how to assemble, motivate and coordinate teams. Key to his success was an uncanny ability to stitch together great, good and average talent - not just All Stars - into high-performing ensemble casts. He knew how to play to people's strengths, minimize their weaknesses, and create an outfit where each player's talent could be appreciated and maximized. Twitter @jessicamcwade
