Human nature finds simplistic comfort in "typing" people.
Maybe the right word is "stereotyping." We all seem to want to know what
somebody is before or in lieu of trying to understand who they are.
It's useful to remind ourselves to be leery of
any science or pseudo-science determined to reduce complex, dynamic
human personality to generalized, dichotomous variables. We're better
and far more interesting than the cages ordained by Myers-Briggs, for example, and worse, the ways in which employers misunderstand and misuse these
data. This is especially true for those of us who seem to produce
different type indicators over the years.
