Serendipity in Mayfair

London

Funny how life works. I had read the recent Vanity Fair piece on the late Mark Birley enroute here. Birley was the king of upscale Mayfair social life for many decades, opening the fabled members-only Annabel's in Berkeley Square back in 1963. The Beatles, Sinatra, Jackie O and a galaxy of celebrities, high-society types and wannabees made the scene there and it remains a relevant destination today. So, what fun it was to have one of the original founding members take us there tonight after dinner as we sipped wine from a side room near the bar that was actually pictured in the Vanity Fair piece. Be careful what you read or even what you imagine, for it can quickly come into your life as if on cue.
